The Greeley West Spartans over the years traditionally opened their season playing in Colorado and District 6 Stadium in Greeley. But this year with a large returning cast of Seniors, talent and new uniforms the Spartans open their season with a non-conference game and traveling to Lake Mary Florida to take on the Coconut Creek Cougars. The Cougars have already won their opener last week putting up 20 points in the game. The Spartans look to set the table and get ready for their return on the 8th of September at home against George Washington High School. The Spartans have several QB options and strong defense and running game. Game time on Friday, August 31, 2018 is 5 pm Florida time.

With most of Colorado High Schools heading back on Monday...the 2018 football season is ready to get underway with zero week games. RAD 247 Sports is opening the webcasting season with rivalry game between the Greeley Central Wildcats and the Northridge Grizzles. Both teams are looking to set the season table for their respective leagues with a win. The Grizzlies move to the 3A North Valley League and the Wildcats move in the conference from the 4A Northern League to the 4A Longs Peak League. Both Leagues are loaded with talent and the opener will be a good test and final chemistry builder for both teams before league play The opening webcast will be Friday, September 7 2018 starting at 7pm from District 6 Stadium in Greeley Colorado. August 12 2018

It started with 8 teams in the American Legion Region 8 Tournament in Denver Colorado last week. The Aces out dueled League City Texas in the Championship game and Arizona Fire birds in the semi-final game to win the tournament. Las Vegas went undefeated all teams going 5-0 and out hit, pitched and out fielded all the teams they faced. Josh Sharman allowed 1 run and 1 hit in the Championship in the 11-1 victory on Sunday. The Aces travel to Shelby North Carolina to compete in the American Legion World Series. ESPN 3 will coverage all the games.

Ted Williams, Johnny Bench, Madision Bumgarner are just a few baseball legends who currently play or played American Legion Baseball. American Legion Baseball with it's rich tradition of college and major league baseball players is growing both in Colorado and nationally which started in 1925. Catch all the action both live and rewind casts for the State Tournament Championships this week on Radioactive 247 Sports! Starting Thursday, July 28th for High School A game starting at 4:30pm from Eaglecrest High School. On Friday night the spotlight shifts to Eltie A Tournament play from Duke White Field in Brighton and game starts at 7pm. Saturday catch more Elita A Baseball from Brighton with the final playoff and Championship games starting at 4pm and 7pm. Sunday TBA announced if needed. 6/17/2016 - Butch Butler Field, Greeley Colorado

"Never say die" was the chant for the Mountain Lions who where down by 8 runs heading into the 7th inning with their last at bats. In cruise mode Greeley West needed 3 outs to post the victory, up 5-1, but several walks and two relief pitchers could not slow down the Lions attack who with timely hits and taking advantage of several bases loaded opporunities produced 8 runs to go on to defeat West 8-5. The American Legion A league game had good pitching performances by both teams and solid defensive plays. On Senior Night the Bulldogs finished out the regular season with and 8-3 victory at Duke White Field Monday Night over the visiting Horizon Hawks. Alex Covarrubias was named player of the game and pitched 5 strong innings for the Bulldogs. Brighton took advantage over Hawk errors, pass balls and troubles on the mound with timely key hits and good defense to go on to their second victory in a row. The Bulldogs played road warriors defeating Adams City two days before with a 14-3 victory. Brighton's league record improves to 7-2, 11-8 overall and have won 9 out of their last 14 games since April 1st. The Bulldogs are currently in second place in the 5A East Metro League behind Prairie View who is 9-0. Cold weather does not hold back hot Colorado Baseball play. Despite the rain, snow and wind many great performances in the last 2 weeks was the case for Colorado High School Baseball. The Heat is on with playoff births on the line. League battles to watch are in the 5A, 4A and 2A with the final 9 days of Spring play. Last week on the Game of the Week Rocky Mountain and Fort Collins battled each other with explosive offense, good individual defensive plays and solid pitching performances with the final 6 outs of the game where strike outs served up by Senior Austin Alerid. After grueling off season and  summer work outs...it comes down to the final week for many teams looking to make a post season bid. Great performances at crucial times have elevated many teams in the 4A State Conference who where counted out early in the first weeks of the 2015 Season. Crucial games on Thursday matches the Thompson Valley Eagles and Windsor Wizards with the Eagles peaking at the right time of the season! Friday on the Game of the Week is the classic rivarly between the Greeley West Spartans and the Loveland Indians who over the past decade has competed for playoff births and Northern Colorado bragging rights. Both games mentioned start at 7pm.

It's Friday Night Lights from Recht Field in Boulder Colorado as the Knights host the Pathers. The Knights are 1-0 and Panthers look to get on track on Homecoming Night. Both teams bring in strong running games and coaching staffs. Pre-game starts at 5:10pm and live webcast begins at 5:30pm...see view screen to the right and click on the arrow in the center of the screen when the USTREAM red on air light is on!

Julia Lopez from Channel 9 Prep Sports displayed a great fastball while throwing out the first pitch for the opening Ceremony game for the Western Region 8 Tournament...SEE VIDEO ABOVE.

After a tough loss against a scrappy Tucson Arizona Team, falling 6-3. Took two games to get the job done in Hawaiin fashion with 15 hits and two homeruns to take the Western Region Crown in Boulder. Kody Cacal, Second Baseman took MVP Honors and Hawaii is in Shelby North Carolina competing in the American Legion World Series after a 10-7 victory over Arizona!

Official Limited Edition Region 8 Tournament Shirts go on sale starting Tuesday 8/14/15 at the Banquet and at Scott Carpenter Field on Wednesday 8/5/15 starting at the 10am game. The cost is $15 a shirt and all proceeds go towards the American Legion Baseball Program and the Players. Supplies are limited!

American Legion State Tournaments continue in Brighton this week as the teams in the B league will square off in Brighton starting Wednesday, July 22 2015...go to the calb.org website to find the tournament schedule pairings.

The Heritage Eagles with a masterful pitching performance from Pete Jamiski and 15 runs on the board takes the American Legion C Tournament first place trophy at Eaglecrest High School in Aurora. Catcher Adam Dehone doubles and guns down base runners as the Eagles won 15-1 over Greeley West.
